The Minister of National Defence, Cristóvão Chume, received on Tuesday the ambassadors of France and Egypt in his office, in meetings that discussed the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the defence sector.
In the meeting with the French ambassador to Mozambique and Eswatini, Yann Pradeu, the diplomat congratulated the Mozambican leader on his reappointment to the post and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continue supporting efforts within the framework of the European Union Assistance Mission to Mozambique (EUMAM).
“The mission has provided support to the Armed Forces of Defence of Mozambique (FADM) through training and the supply of non-lethal equipment, in the context of the fight against terrorism”, stated Pradeu.
In turn, Mohamed Hassan Rafaat Aly Farghal, Egypt’s ambassador to Mozambique, reiterated his country’s willingness to continue offering training courses in the field of defence and to strengthen cooperation with the Mozambican Civil Service in economic areas of common interest.
Chume thanked the two countries for their continued collaboration and made his technical team available to further develop cooperation priorities.
France and Egypt have been cooperating with Mozambique in the defence sector.
