Mozambique: At least 14 more people killed in two days of election protests

Mozambique’s Minister of National Defence, Cristóvão Artur Chume, this Monday (05-05) swore in to strategic positions several recently appointed officials, reaffirming the need for institutional revitalization and strengthening in the defence sector.
Addressing the appointees, the minister stressed that the ceremony symbolized the renewal of confidence in the technical and ethical skills of the professionals taking on their new responsibilities.
“This letter of trust grants you rights and duties, and we expect you to fulfil your new duties with pride and zeal,” Minister Chume said.
Colonel Alizar Mustafa was sworn in as head of the Defence Attachés Office; Major Gisene Adnes Zualo Utui Chavane was sworn in as Deputy National Director of Defence Policy; and Major Eunice Arlete José Julane as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence.
Major Marta António Jorge Muando was also sworn in as Head of the Central Department of Multilateral Relations in the National Directorate of Defence Policy.
In the area of mobilisation and recruitment, three provincial delegates for the Recruitment and Mobilisation Centres of Gaza, Cabo Delgado and Tete were sworn in, these being Colonel Paulo Gabriel, Lieutenant-Colonel Elsa Domingos Zimia and Félix Manuel Amade Malache, respectively.
