The village of Mute, located on the road that connects the districts of Mocímboa da Praia and Palma (Cabo Delgado province), was the scene of strong clashes between the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) which began yesterday (07.12) afternoon, Pinnacle News reports.
The insurgents were repelled after a heavy battle in which the government forces suffered one loss and saw two wounded with minor injuries.

The wounded were instantly sent to the District Hospital of Palma, where they are receiving intensive treatment. Medical personnel believe that these two soldiers are out of danger and may be discharged in the next few days.
Until the attack, about 440 people lived in the village of Mute, corresponding to 123 families. After the clashes, all residents of this village walked a distance of about 22 km to the district capital town of Palma.
It is recalled that Mute has an area of approximately six square kilometres, including arable land.
It should be noted that another attack by insurgents took place in Nkongo village, Nangade district, Cabo Delgado province. In each of the attacks, an estimated 30 insurgents were reportedly involved.

A aldeia de Mute, situada entre a estrada que liga os distritos de Mocímboa da Praia e Palma, foi desde a tarde de ontem (07.12) palco de fortes controntos entre as Forças de Defesa e Segurança (FDS).
Os insurgentes foram repelidos depois de uma forte batalha na qual as forças governamentais tiveram o saldo de uma perda e dois feridos ligeiros. Os feridos foram instantaneamente encaminhados ao Hospital Distrital de Palma, local onde recebem tratamentos intensivos e o pessoal médico acredita que estes pacientes (militares) estão fora de perigo, podendo receber alta nos próximos dias.
Até a altura do ataque, viviam no povoado de Mute cerca de 440 pessoas que correspondiam a 123 famílias. Após os confrontos, todos os residentes desta aldeia percorreram a pé até a vila sede de Palma, numa distância de cerca de 22 km.
Recorde-se que Mute tem uma área cerca de 6 km quadrados, incluindo terras aráveis.
Importa realçar que um outro ataque perpetrado por insurgentes teve a acontecer na aldeia Nkongo, distrito de Nangade, Província de Cabo Delgado. Em ambos os ataques, estima-se que estiveram envolvidos cerca de 30 insurgentes cada.
