Mozambique: Pregnant women sleeping on the floor in Nampula city health unit
Screen grab: Rádio Pax
Individuals still at large on Thursday, broke into the premises of Rádio Pax in Beira and stole five computers (four desktops and a laptop), a printer and three mobile phones, from the newsroom and office of the director, leaving the Catholic Broadcaster working on a provisional basis – especially its editorial staff.
Spokesman for the station, journalist Rogério Maduca, said that the thieves had fortunately not broached the broadcasting or recording studios.
The break-in has been reported to the police.
Founded on the 4th of October 1954 by the first bishop of Beira, Dom Sebastião Soares de Resende, Rádio Pax broadcasts on the FM waveband, covering a radius of about 300 kilometres in a straight line and the entire coastline.
It promotes religious values and community educational and cultural activities with a staff of about 25 members and is owned by the Archdiocese of Beira.
The Radio Pax issued a comunique on the matter, in Portuguese, below.
