Mozambican population may reach 60 million in the next three decades - AIM
Mozambique on Thursday (February 18) reported 10 Covid-19 deaths, 898 new cases and 947 recoveries, as well as 39 new patients admitted in hospitals and 22 medical discharges.
The Ministry of Health reports that the victims were Mozambican men aged between 54 and 86.. ix of these deaths were declared on Wednesday and four were declared on Thursday.
These numbers bring the Covid-19 death toll in the country to 571.
MISAY also reported that, in the previous 24 hours, Mozambique recorded a further 898 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the cumulative number of people infected with the virus since the outbreak to 53,527.
The City of Maputo registered 337 new cases, corresponding to 37.6% of the total new cases reported across the country, followed by the provinces of Sofala and Tete with 103 cases each, corresponding to 11.5%.
In the previous 24 hours, 3,706 samples of suspected cases were tested (chart showing distribution of new cases below)..
In the same 24 hour period, 947 more people were registered as recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 33,804.
273 patients are currently hospitalised in health units across the country: 212 (77.7%) in Maputo city, 15 in Zambézia, 12 in Maputo province, 11 in Tete province, six in Sofala, six in Nampula province, five in Inhambane province, three in cabo Delgado, one in Manica province, one in Gaza and one in Niassa.
