Maputo Central Hospital, the country’s largest health facility, is rehabilitating its emergency services at a cost of around 183 million meticais (just over €2 million).
The project, which is funded from the State Budget, will take 18 months, according to a note distributed to the media today.
The rehabilitation will comprise five phases, and cover the trauma and intensive care units, the emergency rooms and the small surgery laboratory, the note adds.
Maputo Central Hospital is the largest health facility in the country, with seven clinical departments and an average of 900 users per day.
During to the Covid-19 pandemic, the hospital is prioritising external consultations and currently sees an average of between 300 and 400 visitors daily.
