Mozambique: President begins visit to Cabo Delgado

The Council of State meets this Tuesday, 15 September, for the second time in President Nyusi’s second term, to consider a request from Attorney General Beatriz Buchil, @verdade reports today.
The first time the Council of State met was on March 20. Nyusi swore the members of the Council of State into office on Friday morning, and in the afternoon it held its first meeting. Covid-19 was the only point on the agenda, and the Council suggested that, in the light of the danger of a rapid spread of the disease, Nyusi should declare a state of emergency, AIM News Agency reported t the time.

The Council of State members are: the President of the Assembly of the Republic (Esperança Bias), her predecessors in office (Eduardo Mulembwé and Verónca Macamo), the President of the Constitutional Council (Lúcia Ribeiro), the Prime Minister (Carlos Agositnho do Rosário) , the Ombudsman (Isac chande), the two former Presidents of the Republic (Joaquim Chissano and Armando Guebuza), the second most-voted candidate for the post of President of the Republic (Ossufo Momade), seven personalities elected by the Assembly of the Republic ( Alicnda de Abreu Mondlane, Felizarda da Boaventura Paulimo, Maria Luisa Massamba, Jamisse Taimo, Aminuddin Mohamad, Juliano Picardo, Abdul Magide Ibraimo), and four personalities appointed by the Head of State (Alberto Chipande, Graça Machel, Eduardo Silva Nihia and Daviz Simango).
@Verdade has learned that this political consultation body of the President of the Republic meets virtually today with a single point on the agenda: to consider a request from the Attorney General’s Office.
