Mozambique may dominate the electricity market in Southern Africa in the next three to five years.
According to AIM news agency, Standard Bank projections see Namibia, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa as the main customers.

Andre du Plessis, Director of Corporate Banking and Standard Bank Investment, said that for Mozambique to dominate the electricity market in the region, it has to invest in reliable and stable transmission networks to facilitate the continuous transfer of power between sellers and buyers.
“Given that these networks require significant cooperation between neighbouring countries, the role of the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) in ensuring the planning, investment and cross-border trade between member states remains crucial,” Mediafax cites du Plessis as saying.
