As part of the ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of covid-19 in the country, Cornelder de Moçambique SA (CdM) on Monday morning delivered four ventilators and various hospital equipment to the Sofala provincial government.
With this donation, Sofala province now has six ventilators. The first two, already installed at Beira Central Hospital, were acquired with funds from the public sector.
Cornelder also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Provincial Health Directorate, concerning the rehabilitation of the Beira Epidemics Centre and the installation of an oxygen and compressed air supply system at the city’s 24 de Julho Health Centre, so that both health units can be used to isolate patients who test positive for the new coronavirus in any possible outbreak in Sofala.

These actions are part of Cornelder’s “Together Against Covid -19” campaign, which, in addition supporting Beira Central Hospital, includes the production of 30,000 handmade masks for distribution to market vendors, public transport drivers and conductors, and in disadvantaged communities.
The masks are being produced by seven local associations using sewing machines and fabric donated by Cornelder.
Cornelder is also supporting civil society initiatives in Beira, financing the disinfection of the main markets and commercial hubs, and installing water tanks in markets and at truck checkpoints in Beira city as part of their ongoing corporate social responsibility programme.
