The closure of Renamo’s last military base, in the Nota neighbourhood, Canda administrative post, Gorongosa district, Sofala province, began this morning as part of the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) process of Renamo’s residual forces.
Around 300 former guerrillas will be covered at the base, which is considered a Renamo headquarters, and the event is being led by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, accompanied by the president of Renamo, Ossufo Momade, the Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Mozambique, Mirko Manzoni, members of the government and Renamo staff, among other guests.
