The company Cimentos de Moçambique (CM) announced this Wednesday an investment plan of 60 million US dollars to modernize and increase the production capacity of its plant located in Dondo Municipality, Sofala province.
The modernization, which is part of the company’s 100th anniversary, which is being celebrated this year, includes the installation of a clinker kiln, in addition to a new vertical cement mill with a capacity of 80 tons per hour and a new cement bagging machine with a capacity of 120 tons per hour.
The production capacity of the Dondo plant will reach 1.3 million tons of cement per year, and is expected to generate 200 new direct jobs for young people in the region.
Another important investment by CM is about to be completed: the modernization and expansion of the Nacala plant, which also includes the installation of a clinker kiln, whose works began at the end of 2023 and will be completed by October.
“The investments in Nacala and Dondo are the materialization of our confidence and commitment to the development of Mozambique”, said CM CEO Fernando Barreto.
