Chinese mining company Dingsheng Minerals assures that the Chongone port, from where the Chibuto heavy sands will be exported, will be completed by December this year.
Works have already reached 80% of execution, with the beginning of the assembly of the peer scheduled to start in September.
“We started work on the 15th of March. Up there, there’s a dormitory and an office that take a month and a half to finish. Then, we will build the warehouse,” says a representative of the company.
In the first phase, the port installed in Chongoene will have the capacity to handle around 20 thousand tons per day.
“Materials are missing. Machine is missing. The machine is on its way. The materials have already arrived at the port of Maputo,” adds the Ding Sheng representative.
The governor of Gaza Margarida Mapandzene Chongo visited the works and spoke of the impact that this infrastructure will have on the development of the province.
Dingsheng Minerals is investing around US$300 million in the port works.
