Mozambique: Chongoene asks Chapo for rehabilitation of irrigation systems, paved roads

Residents of Chongoene district have asked President Chapo to rehabilitate the irrigation systems in the lower Limpopo River and in other regions of Gaza province to boost agricultural production.
The request was presented by a community leader on the president’s first stop on his visit to Gaza province.
Chongoene representatives also requested the installation and expansion of the electricity grid for the communities and expressed gratitude for what has already been installed in response to requests made last year.
The residents highlight the potential that exists for the development of the province, but complain about the lack of means and access routes for the flow of production.
“We are also asking for the roads to be paved so that food can be transported to the markets,” the community leader said.
