The Chinese government has donated food products and supplements valued at more than seven million meticais [US$120,513] to help prevent and combat Covid-19 among victims of terrorism in Cabo Delgado.
The donation made this Thursday and handed over to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation includes yet another US$500,000 for different support to the victims of terrorism.
The donation reception ceremony this Thursday was marked by the signing of the food aid delivery certificate by the Chinese ambassador to Mozambique, Wang Hejun, and Mozambique’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Verónica Macamo.
Minister Macamo afterwards thanked Wang Hejun for his government’s gesture, saying that it comes at a time when the needs of the displaced are increasing every day.
The donation, she added, demonstrated the good relations that exist between Mozambique and China.
“We also highlight the importance of the People’s Republic of China for emergency aid in the amount of two million US dollars and 1.8 million channelled through UNDP and UNFPA, respectively,” she praised.
In reply, Ambassador Wang said that the Chinese government would always stand beside Mozambique.
