Mozambique: President meets opposition chief to reset relations

Mozambique and China signed a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening mechanisms for combating transnational organised crime in Beijing this week.
The agreement was signed by Interior Minister Jaime Basilio Monteiro and the Minister of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China, Guo Shengkun. The Memorandum of Understanding details areas such as the fight against drug trafficking and international terrorism, civil protection, training, provision of equipment, institutional development and exchange of information.
The agreement was concluded in the framework of the working visit Minister Monteiro has been making to China since last weekend within the existing framework of friendly relations and cooperation between the Republic of Mozambique and China in the field of public security.
Accompanying the Minister of the Interior is the Director-General of the National Migration Service, Arsenia Massingue, the Director of International Relations Office, Mário Jorge, and the Director of Logistics and Finance at the General Command of Police, Alberto Vago Nguirande.
