The company Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM) says that there is an increase in coal theft on the route between Ressano Garcia in Moamba district and the port of Maputo.
Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique denounces the increase in coal theft by members of the public during the journey between the location where the wagons are filled and the port.
The executive director of CFM Sul, who shared the information with Radio Mozambique, added that the alleged thieves have been successful due to the fact that they come in greater numbers than the security guards on duty.
Augusto Abudo said that a bolder strategy was being studied to curb the phenomenon, which has caused incalculable damage to the CFM.
Abudo further expressed outrage at the fact that some individuals throw stones at trains during their journey, especially in the Machava area in Matola municipality.
