Mozambique: Malnutrition among children under five dropped to 37% in 2013-23

The Beluluane Open-Air Centre for the Elderly was alive with joy and celebration on Tuesday, October 1st, as more than 300 attendees gathered to honor the Day of Older Persons.
Organized by MozParks in collaboration with the Province of Maputo, the event took place under the theme “Aging with Dignity is a Human Right: Let’s Take Care of the Elderly”, and aimed to promote respect, recognition, and support for the elderly within the community.
The event brought together 225 elderly individuals, along with representatives of Beluluane Industrial Park companies and guests. The event featured speeches from dignitaries, including the Governor of Maputo Province, Manuel Tule, Guilhermina Kumaghwelo, Administrator of Boane District, and Abdul Issufo, Mayor of Matola-Rio.
They praised the initiative led by MozParks, emphasizing the importance of community support for the elderly.
The celebration featured a variety of engaging activities, including a traditional lunch prepared by the elderly, a ceremonial cake cutting, and a cultural performance, culminating with the distribution of gifts to the elderly.
The success of the event was made possible by the generous support of partner companies, including Bosch Rexroth, RA International, Nat-Africa, CICOTI, LDA, Mozal, Godrej, and Raxio, whose contributions are vital in promoting community initiatives, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in creating an environment where seniors feel valued and supported.

The company recognizes that sustainable development is achieved through the appreciation and involvement of every community member.
Established by the United Nations in 1991, the Day of the Older Persons is celebrated annually around the world.
