The country’s current cartographic update, part of the fourth General Population and Housing Census, ends this month. Cartography teams are presently at work in Tete and Zambézia provinces.
The cartographic update will display areas of enumeration and determine what equipment is necessary for the Census, which takes place in August.
Speaking to Radio Moçambique in Maputo, spokesman Cirilo Tembe said the National Institute of Statistics (INE) was expecting to register about 27,128,530 inhabitants in this year’s census.
The INE would recruit 65,000 census officials, whose instructors were already being trained, and the setting up of provincial and district census offices was already under way, he added.
