Capulanas and paper napkins are among the 16 Covid-19 prevention and treatment products that will benefit from Mozambique’s latest special import facilities.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance has finally approved procedures necessary for the implementation of Decree 25/2020 of 27 April, which details customs and tax facilities aimed at mitigating the economic impacts of Covid-19.
One of these facilities, foreseen as extending to 31 December 2020, is the authorisation for early customs clearance when importing products for the prevention and mitigation of the pandemic.
The list runs from alcohol gel to medicines and ventilators, including some products that Mozambique was once a producer and exporter of, such as capulanas and soap. Also noteworthy is the tax facility granted for the import of paper napkins.
However, @Verdade has established that this customs facility still entails some bureaucracy since, when it comes to importing medicines, vaccines, health products and hospital supplies, a special license issued by the Ministry of Health is mandatory.
