Mozambique: State debt to exceed 100% of GDP again this year - IMF

Canada on Thursday announced $186 million (€152 million) in development aid for state and multi-organisation projects in Mozambique, including assistance in responding to Covid-19 and promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights.
“As the world continues to grapple with the pandemic, it has become clear that women and girls are disproportionately affected,” said Karina Gould, the Canadian international cooperation minister.
She concluded a series of web-based meetings today with representatives of the government of Mozambique, multilateral institutions and civil society.
“Canada’s support to Mozambique will continue with a focus on addressing the impacts of the Covid-19 crisis and building a more inclusive and sustainable future,” she stressed.
Today, Minister Gould met virtually with H.E Adriano Maleiane, Minister of Economy and Finance, to discuss Mozambique’s priorities and perspective to respond to the combined effect of #COVID19, armed #conflict and #ClimateChange. Canada has provided more than $1.1 billion (€901 million) in development aid to Mozambique since 2010, the diplomatic office in Maputo said.
Mozambique has had 834 deaths and 70,651 cases of Covid-19, of which 97% have recovered.
