Pemba city, the provincial capital of Cabo Delgado, recently hosted the 1st Regional Entrepreneurship Conference, organized by Cooperativa em Movimento with the aim of promoting sustainable business development in the regional context.
Providing context for the conference, Cooperativa em Movimento executive director Noémia Moisés explained that the event is intended to be a space for discussion and constructive dialogue where experiences and business opportunities will be shared in various areas.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Governor of Cabo Delgado Valige Tauabo said he hoped that the conference participants would leave the meeting with clear recommendations, and with strategic connections and concrete actions that will have an impact on the lives of entrepreneurs and the social fabric of Cabo Delgado province in the future.
“May this conference serve as inspiration, training and a starting point for new ideas, new partnerships and new paths,” said Governor Tauabo.
Assif Osman, a businessman based in Cabo Delgado, speaking on “Solutions for Entrepreneurship in the Context of Cabo Delgado,” stressed the need for young entrepreneurs to have the persistence to overcome all challenges.
Osman argues that entrepreneurs must invest in training: “Education about entrepreneurship must start in childhood, from parents, and then be perfected through self-education in everyday life,” he counselled.
In fact, Assif Osman believes that education about entrepreneurship must be an integral part of the subjects taught in educational institutions in the country.
The following topics were addressed at the conference, which took last Friday (23-05): Business Opportunities in Cabo Delgado, Innovation and Young Entrepreneurship, the Digital Revolution in Sustainable Agriculture and Promotion for the Development of the Northern Region, and Financing Opportunities.
