Businesspeople from Mozambique and Ukraine intend to share experiences in the agricultural sector and deepen cooperation following a meeting in Maputo on Tuesday on business between the two countries.
‘We’re happy to share our experiences with you, but we’ll also be happier to hear what your possibilities are, what your needs are and how we can deepen our cooperation,’ said Mikola Totchytski, deputy head of Ukraine’s presidential office.
Highlighting the agribusiness and agro-industry sectors as the focus of the round table taking place in Maputo, the president of the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique pointed out Ukraine’s strengths in agricultural production and its industrial processing capacity, mentioning its ‘already consolidated’ agro-processing industry.
‘One of the main aims of organising this event is to create objective conditions for closer relations in order to establish business and investment partnerships between Ukrainian and Mozambican entrepreneurs,’ said Agostinho Vuma.
On the occasion, Ukraine also put on the agenda for talks with Mozambican businesspeople the sharing of information about the Global Peace Summit in that country, which will take place in Switzerland on 15 and 16 June. It added that nuclear, food security and humanitarian needs are among the main focuses of the summit.
‘We’re also here to promote President Zelensky’s vision of the peace issue, in particular, to share information about the upcoming peace summit,’ said Mikola Totchytski.
On 22 May, the Ukrainian President invited his Mozambican counterpart to take part in the Global Peace Summit in Ukraine during a telephone conversation in which Filipe Nyusi recognised the growing relations between the two countries.
The Presidency of the Republic did not clarify whether the Mozambican head of state would attend the summit in the statement sent to the media.
