The movement of buffalo herds through residential areas in Marromeu district, Sofala, is causing distress to residents.
The problem affects the villages of Safrique and Macuere, where it is reported that buffalo from the Marromeu National Reserve have destroyed houses and agricultural fields.
The administrator of the district of Marromeu, Henriqueta do Rosário, quoted by RM, said that community inspectors have initiated attempts to herd the buffalo away.
The same source said that families whose homes were damaged by the animals should be able to count on government support for reconstruction.
