Since late Monday morning, there has been information circulating that the Guebuza family’s lawyer, Alexandre Chivale, is under arrest. This information is not true, as confirmed by CanalMoz, with his lawyer who is following the case.
What happened is that Alexandre Chivale was taken, under custody, to the Maputo City Public Prosecutor’s Office to clarify the contempt proceedings and arrest warrant against him, which date back to 2022, during the trial of the hidden debts [where Chivale was defence lawyer for several defendants]. At the City Public Prosecutor’s Office, the matter was ‘pushed’ to the Kampfumo Court, but without any outcome.
Throughout this journey, Chivale was personally driving his vehicle, according to the lawyer.
It turns out that without any procedure at either the Public Prosecutor’s Office or t the Court, Chivale was dismissed and went home.
