A 14-year-old boy has been killed by a crocodile in Magude district, Maputo province.
The attack occurred this Wednesday on the Mzimhlophe River at the Motaze administrative post, as the victim tried to cross the watercourse to graze cattle on the other bank, in Nwambzana.
João Cuambe, a forestry and wildlife technician in Magude, said that the recovery of the teenager’s body was possible thanks to local residents who witnessed the incident.
Cuambe observed that crocodile attacks had been more frequent because of rising water levels following rain upstream during the rainy season.
