Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane on Monday appointed Elisa Zacarias as Chair of the Tax Authority of Mozambique (AT), Ludovina Bernardo as Chair of the National Hydrocarbons Company (ENH), and Amélia Muendane as Chair of Mozambique Airports (AdM).
Speaking in Maputo after the inauguration, Maleiane challenged the three new managers to strive to achieve the goals set in their respective areas, including revenue collection.
The Prime Minister said that for the hydrocarbons area, the central challenge was the widespread use of natural gas, and for airports, the focus was on improving airport infrastructure.
Regarding Ludovina Bernardo, the new chair of ENH, a sector that faces challenges in developing hydrocarbon projects, Maleiane highlighted the need for work on consolidating technological and institutional tools for greater competitiveness in the national and international markets.
The Prime Minister therefore advised Bernado to “continue to adopt measures that increasingly ensure ENH’s participation in the entire hydrocarbon value chain, namely, investment, research, development, production, marketing and distribution of petroleum resources”.
Regarding Aeroportos de Moçambique, thePrime Minister challenged new chair Amélia Muendane to improve airport infrastructure, providing a more comfortable and safe environment for passengers and users.
“It is necessary to make airports intelligent and efficient providers of high-quality services, prioritizing the establishment of mutually advantageous partnerships,” Maleiane said.
Addressing the new chair of the Tax Authority Elisa Zacarias, the Prime Minister said that the priority was to collect revenue for the state.
“We will continue the work [already started]. We have to collect revenue by raising awareness among economic agents and society in general about paying taxes for the development of our country,” stated the new chair of the AT Elisa Zacarias.
