Two officers from the Rapid Intervention Unit (UIR), a branch of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), were seriously injured this Wednesday when the self-proclaimed Renamo Military Junta, led by Mariano Nhongo, launched an attack on the Muxúnguè Administrative Post in Chibabava district, Sofala province.
The attack did not result in any fatalities.
Attacks in the centre of the country have killed more than a hundred people since August 2019, as well as destroying various public and private assets.
