More than half of the employees of the Mozambican Tax Authority (AT) will be transferred from the capital, Maputo, to the country’s central and northern regions, Noticias reports this Monday.
The measure aims to reinforce inspection and reduce smuggling, as well as optimising the institution’s available resources.
Much national wealth, including wood, gold, ivory, precious stones and agricultural produce, is lost to the country across borders in the central and northern regions.
