The Mozambican Tax Authority (AT) recently seized four trucks and a container containing various brands of beer imported without the requisite fiscal stamp, to a customs value of more than three million meticais.
The seizures were carried out by customs inspection teams at Ressano Garcia border post in Moamba district and at the Port of Maputo.
AT spokesman Fernando Tinga told the press that the reason for the seizure was that the goods were not sealed, even post the start of the third phase of mandatory sealing of beers and ready-to-drink beverages (RTDs).

According to Tinga, the procedure now to be followed is to continue the investigative process at the Customs level, for later referral to the public ministry for subsequent stages.
