Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário yesterday invited entrepreneurs to take advantage of the investment and business opportunities in Mozambique on display in the country’s pavilion at Expo-2020 Dubai.
“In order to appreciate the potential that exists in Mozambique, we invite everyone present to visit our pavilion, where we present opportunities for investment and business – and, of course, showcase our cultural and touristic heritage,” the prime minister said at the Expo’s Mozambique National Day celebrations.
Agostinho do Rosário underlined the strategic importance of Mozambique’s participation in the Expo, saying that it demonstrated the will to strengthen existing relations and partnerships between Mozambique and the United Arab Emirates, as well as with other states participating in this event.
The prime minister believes that, throughout this edition of Expo-2020 Dubai, commitments will be entered into and agreements signed which will certainly contribute to increasing relations of friendship and cooperation in areas of mutual interest and benefit.
He explained that, to boost the country’s development, the government has placed the diversification of the economy at the top of its priorities, focusing on areas where there is enormous potential, namely agriculture (throughout its value chain), fishing, industrialization, energy, infrastructure, tourism and transport logistics.
He added that Mozambique is committed to capitalizing on the wealth of natural resources it has, including natural gas.
According to Do Rosário, Mozambique assumes that natural gas will be exploited as a transition to cleaner energy sources in order to boost and dynamise structuring sectors, as well as accelerating the country’s sustainable development process.
He also detailed that, in order to boost the structuring sectors of the economy, the government has been implementing reforms and policies aimed at improving the business environment, an essential condition for a vibrant and active private sector.
Mozambique’s theme at Expo-2020 Dubai is “Respect for Nature, the Best Legacy for Future Generations”, and the government approved the framing of the Mozambique pavilion in the sub-theme “Sustainability”, whose contents cover the four priority sectors of agriculture, infrastructure, energy and tourism.
Twenty-five million visitors to the Expo are expected over the course of the event, 70% of them from outside the United Arab Emirates, making this the biggest event in the Expo’s history.
