Mozambique this Wednesday takes over the rotating month-long presidency of the UN Security Council.
Mozambique has signalled as priorities for its presidency the themes of women, international peace and security, combating terrorism and violent extremism, and climate change.
In an interview with Radio Moçambique, the Mozambican Ambassador to the United Nations and the country’s representative on the Security Council, Pedro Comissário, reiterated that the fight against terrorism was an unavoidable matter in the current context.
Pedro Comissário noted that Mozambique’s presidency of the UN Security Council comes at a time when the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are urgent issues globally.
Mozambique assumes the rotating presidency of the Security Council for the month of March.
