The Mozambican government expects to welcome around 70,000 visitors and 2,350 national exhibitors at the 60th edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM 2025), which will take place from 25 to 31 August.
The event, held at the Ricatla International Fair and Exhibition Centre, in Marracuene district, about 30 kilometres north of Maputo, under the slogan: “Promoting Economic Diversification towards Sustainable and Competitive Development in Mozambique”, will also count on 800 foreign exhibitors from 30 countries.
According to the Ministry of the Economy, the organizer of the event through the Investment and Export Promotion Agency (APIEX), will be attended by representatives of the State and the private sector from the country’s 11 provinces.
According to Economy Minister Basílio Muhate, for this edition, the southern province of Gaza has been chosen as the ‘”Province of Honour”, while South Africa will have the status of “Country of Honour”, and “this distinction will culminate in the Mozambique-South Africa Business Fair, strengthening trade and cooperation ties between the two countries.”
Muhate guaranteed that “everything is ready for the start of the event. The final adjustments and details are being finalized.”
“We intend to share the preparation and organization stage of the event and gather opinions from partners with a view to improving the process. We hope to massively promote FACIM to attract more exhibitors and visitors”, he said.
He explained that the main objective of the event includes showcasing the potential of national production for export, “promoting business and investment opportunities in various segments of the economy, strengthening the internationalization of the Mozambican economy, and supporting the country’s integration into the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) regional market and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).”
“The exhibition of products and national production potential for export, the promotion of partnership opportunities between national and foreign companies, the stimulation of new public and private investment initiatives and the dissemination of innovative initiatives are part of FACIM’s central purpose”, he added.
For his part, the director of FACIM, Sérgio Macamo, said that the fair will be “modern and digital, making the event more attractive and accessible to the public.”
In partnership with the Centre for the Development of Information and Finance Systems (CEDSIF), the organization has introduced online ticket sales through the State Payment Service (SESPE) app, allowing for greater efficiency and reduced physical contact.
In terms of security, FACIM will be attended by over 500 police officers and 18 personnel to ensure health care.
