The main mission of the Integrated Development Agency of the North (ADIN) recently created by the government is to increase the competitiveness and social and economic productivity of the provinces of Cabo Delgado, Niassa and Nampula, as well as ensuring sustainable management of natural resources throughout the region.
The prime minister, who yesterday swore into office Armando Panguene as president of this institution, said that the agency’s strategy should focus on generating income and creating more jobs, especially for young people.
“In order to achieve these strategic goals, ADIN must promote actions aimed at building infrastructures that allow for greater interconnection within and between provinces; recovery of schools, health centres, roads, bridges and agricultural production fields damaged by extreme events and the actions of evildoers,” Carlos Agostinho do Rosário said.
He urged the newly-sworn-in ADIN president to create conditions to ensure the involvement of the private sector in the economic development process of the three provinces, and to ensure the participation of local authorities, community and religious leaders, as well as civil society in solving local problems.
“In order to achieve these goals, it is necessary for the Agency to guarantee a permanent and coordinated articulation between the central government, local and municipal authorities and the cooperation partners. It should also develop programs that contribute to the harmonious development of the region and that ensure territorial competitiveness and its insertion in international markets,” the prime minister said, stressing that the government intended to stimulate innovation and technology transfer and promote development infrastructure and human capital with technical capabilities in the northern region of the country.
