Mozambique: New diplomatic missions may promote country’s image
A representative of Mozambique’s anti-corruption office has reaffirmed the government’s determination to fight against corruption in the country, APA learns here on Monday.Addressing an interactive round-table discussion of state-controlled Radio Mozambique at the weekend, Ernesto Tsumbane, defended the strengthening of efforts to prevent and combat corruption in the Mozambican society in general and in the country’s institutions, in particular.
The corruption cancer is common in the Mozambican police, education, health, justice and customs.
Tsumbane said the anti-corruption office has been involving primary and secondary school students, teachers and their managers in the fight against corruption in Mozambique since 2014.
“Our joint perspective is, in fact, to incorporate in the school curriculum anti-corruption issues. We have, at pilot school level, established selected anti-corruption groups involving carefully chosen students and teachers. We did this in 2014-2015 in some of the country’s scattered selected schools,” said Tsumane.
He added: “We trained the selected members of the school anti-corruption groups. The perspective is to turn these members into arms or wings of the anti-corruption office.”
