Another employee of the National Directorate of Civil Identification [DNIC] has tested positive for Covid-19 – the third this month. The official concerned is a man aged between 40 and 50 years. The institution says it is concerned, but that there is no cause for alarm.
As a result, the DNIC has had to close one of its departments, so that 14 employees who had been in contact with the infected worker could enter home quarantine.
DNIC also shut down its identity document manufacturing facility for 24 hours so that disinfection could be carried out.
During its first month of resumed activities, the DNIC has registered more than 100,000 requests for identity cards, more than is usual.
At the same press conference, the DNIC announced the arrest in flagrante delicto of three individuals attempting to take out bank loans using false identity cards.
