Another businessman was kidnapped this Saturday afternoon, in the Alto-Maé neighbourhood, in Maputo city, Notícias reports.
The crime occurred when the businessman was about to enter his vehicle, moments after closing his store.
According to O País, the victim is the owner of the’ Luxo e Brinde’ store, a 50-year-old citizen of Asian origin and his kidnapping took place at around 2h30 p.m. in the Belita area, on Avenida Eduardo Mondlane.
According Police spokesperson in Maputo city Leonel Muchina the crime was committed by four armed individuals.
Less than 100 meters away was a police brigade patrolling the area and an exchange of gunfire occurred but not enough to deter the criminals from taking action, O País adds.
