Drug traffickers in Angoche, in the south of Nampula province, continue to experiment with new modus operandi, with transactions now taking place at different places.
Researchers from Ikweli in Angoche have witnessed transactions taking place in the grounds of Mussoriri Primary School in the emblematic Inguri neighbourhood.
An Ikweli source who has repeatedly observed movements there said: “It has been possible to notice that, at that school, at night, there are strange movements. Small vehicles start to arrive after 4:00 p.m. and stay there all night; other cars arrive, and the loading process begins.”
Sources in Angoche reason that “as there has been some police activity in the port, they [drug dealers] are changing their tactics, because they continue to receive a lot of drugs from Yatá Island”.
During the school holidays, Mussoriri Primary School is used because of its advantageous location, being relatively inaccessible and attracting little attention.
This is the same school where agents of Angoche municipal police and the Police of the Republic of Mozambique were apprehended for alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
