Mozambican business leaders urge fiscal and monetary policy reforms

Representing the President of Mozambique, Daniel Francisco Chapo, the Minister of Economy, Basílio Muhate, recently took part in the Africa Debate Conference in the United Arab Emirates, where he held a bilateral meeting with the UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.
Mozambique expressed its interest in accelerating bilateral cooperation, prioritising investments in industry, agribusiness, energy, tourism and logistics, with a particular focus on promoting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and enhancing the integration of local content.
Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to signing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with Mozambique, emphasising that the accord will strengthen investor confidence and further boost economic relations between the two countries.
The Africa Debate Conference, held on 30 September in Dubai, brought together political leaders, representatives of international organisations, and business figures from various sectors under the theme ‘Shared Markets. Shared Future’,,with the objective of promoting inclusive growth through strategic investments in key priority areas — namely logistics and value chains, energy transition, digital transformation, and trade and investment.
In his address, the Minister of Economy highlighted the significance of the event for Mozambique, noting that it reinforces the country’s cooperation across several priority areas of governance.
Minister Muhate further stated that Mozambique intends to use this platform to seize competitive opportunities and foster a mutually beneficial partnership with the United Arab Emirates, particularly in the sectors of industry, agriculture, fisheries, infrastructure, energy, pharmaceuticals, fertilisers and tourism.
