Mozambique and Turkey will sign a memorandum of understanding on hydrocarbons at the World Petroleum Congress, underway until Thursday in Istanbul, a statement said.
According to a press release from the Mozambican Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME), the memorandum will be signed by the head of the sector, Leticia Klemens.
“The memorandum aims to identify and develop projects for storage, transport and distribution of petroleum products,” reads the text
The construction and maintenance of oil and natural gas infrastructures alongside the construction, management and transmission of electricity are also included in the memorandum.
The World Petroleum Congress will discuss the strategic policies of the oild and gas industry, opportunities for cooperation between participating countries and evaluate the impact of the latest developments and innovations of the market.
In a separate statement, MIREME reports that deputy minister Augusto Fernando will attend on Tuesday the SADC meeting of Ministers responsible for water and energy to be held in Swaziland.
The meeting aims to discuss, inter alia, the intergovernmental memorandum for the establishment of the regional centre for energy efficiency and renewable energies and the adoption of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Plan of Action on energy efficiency and renewable energy .
The meeting will also assess energy regulation in the SADC region and review the energy demand and supply situation.
Swaziland will also host a joint ministerial seminar on energy investment on Wednesday and Thursday.
