Mozambique and Timor-Leste this Friday signed cooperation agreements in the areas of politics, education and mineral resources, as part of the Timorese head of state’s working visit to Mozambique.
The agreements were signed by the heads of diplomacy of the two countries, Mozambican Verónica Macamo and Timorese Bendito dos Santos Freitas, moments after a meeting between the presidents of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, and of Timor-Leste, José Ramos-Horta.
The agreements provide for the two countries to cooperate in various ways in the areas of political consultation, higher education, hydrocarbons and mining.

“The agreements signed here are the results of political discussions and consultations,” President Nyusi said after the signing.
Filipe Nyusi invited his Timor-Leste counterpart José Ramos-Horta to visit Mozambique in order to deepen relations of friendship and cooperation.
President José Ramos-Horta will today meet President of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique, Esperança Bias.
José Ramos-Horta is visiting Mozambique for the first time since taking office in 2022.

During his stay in Mozambique, Ramos-Horta will also lay a wreath in Praça dos Heróis, receive the key to the city, give a lecture at Eduardo Mondlane University on “Timor-Leste, the Region and the World” and visit the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) Strategic Analysis Centre.
After Mozambique, President Ramos-Horta will head to Angola for a visit spanning Monday to Wednesday of next week, also to reinforce bilateral relations and cooperation within the scope of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).
