Mozambique’s Ministry of National Defence (MDN) has reiterated its commitment to complying with regional and continental cooperation programmes aimed at consolidating peace and security on the African continent.
This position was reasserted in Dar-es-Salam, Tanzania, on Thursday, by Permanent Secretary of the MDN, Casimiro Mueio, who was speaking at the opening of the third meeting of experts from Mozambique and Tanzania, which will last five days and will be followed by a ministerial summit headed by Jaime Neto, Minister of National Defence.
“We take this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to complying with regional and continental cooperation programmes, aiming to consolidate peace and security on the African continent,” Mueio said.
He stressed that the defence sector must identify ways of overcoming constraints in the consolidation of peace, security and stability, the basic and essential conditions for the realisation of numerous endogenous projects in the region.
Mueio emphasised the need to maintain commitment to concrete actions capable of producing, within the framework of security provision, tangible results in the lives of ordinary citizens of the two countries.
