The governments of Mozambique and South Africa aim to improve joint strategies to combat organized and transnational crime, with the goal of enhancing public security and ensuring economic development in both countries.
Today, a meeting took place in Maputo between the Ministers of the Interior of Mozambique and the Police of South Africa.
The Mozambican Minister of the Interior, Pascoal Ronda, stated that both governments are committed to facilitating the free movement of people and goods, as well as increasing trade.
The South African Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, mentioned that cooperation with the Mozambican government has led to satisfactory results in combating drug trafficking, kidnappings, and vehicle thefts. “We are encouraged by the fact that drugs worth 98 million rand have been seized.
Around 8 Mozambican vehicles were burned, and the police are constantly patrolling those areas and will continue to investigate and ensure that those responsible are apprehended.
One of the main masterminds of kidnappings has been arrested in South Africa, and authorities believe he is behind a wave of abductions in both countries,” said Bheki Cele.
The Ministers of the Interior of Mozambique and the Police of South Africa have committed to promoting peace, stability, and social well-being.”
