Mozambique and Rwanda sign MoUs – RM report

The agreements signed this Friday between Rwanda and Mozambique in the framework of the visit of president Paul Kagame cover the domains of security, economic cooperation, with emphasis on the areas of mineral resources and energy and industry and trade.

This Friday, Mozambique and Rwanda signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the areas of trade and investment.

The agreements signed in the framework of the visit that the president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, paid to Mozambique cover the domains of security, economic cooperation, with emphasis on the areas of mineral resources and energy and industry and trade.

The meeting between Filipe Nyusi and Paul Kagame on Friday, in one of the tourist resorts of Mecúfi district, approximately 50 kilometres from the city of Pemba, culminated in the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs).

Earlier, in the provincial capital of Cabo Delgado, the two heads of state had guided a military parade on Friday afternoon, in which the Defence and Security Forces of our country and of Rwanda took part.

On the occasion, Paul Kagame said that the task of his country’s troops, now, is to maintain security in the areas that were in the hands of terrorists, to ensure the safe return of populations and the reconstruction of the destroyed social and economic infrastructure.

Paul Kagame’s words were received with great satisfaction by the Mozambican Head of State, Filipe Nyusi, who, also speaking in the Swahil language, thanked, on behalf of the population, the unconditional help of the Rwandan government and people.

On Saturday, the Rwandan President participated in the ceremonies alluding to the 25th of September, Days of the Armed Forces for the Defense of Mozambique (FADM), as a guest of honour.

Moçambique e Ruanda assinaram, esta sexta-feira, um memorando de entendimento para a cooperação nas áreas comercial e de investimentos.

Os acordos que foram assinados no quadro da visita que o presidente do Ruanda, Paul Kagame, efectua a Moçambique abrangem os domínios da segurança, cooperação económica, com destaque para as áreas de recursos minerais e energia e indústria e comércio.

O encontro de Filipe Nyusi e Paul Kagame, numa das instâncias turísticas do distrito de Mecúfi a sensivelmente 50 quilómetros da cidade de Pemba, culminou com a assinatura de memorandos de entendimento.

Antes, já na capital provincial de Cabo Delgado, os dois estadistas orientaram na tarde desta sexta-feira uma parada militar, na qual participaram as Forças de Defesa e Segurança do nosso país e do Ruanda.

Na ocasião Paul Kagame referiu que a tarefa das tropas do seu país, agora, é manter a segurança nas zonas que estavam nas mãos dos terroristas, para garantir o regresso seguro das populações e a reconstrução das infra-estrututuras sociais e económicas destruídas.

As palavras de Paul Kagame foram acolhidas com enorme satisfação por parte do Chefe de Estado moçambicano, Filipe Nyusi, que falando também em língua swahil, agradeceu, em nome da população, a ajuda incondicional do governo e povo ruandeses.

Hoje o Presidente ruandês vai participar nas cerimónias alusivas ao 25 de Setembro, Dias das Forças Armadas de Defesa de Moçambique (FADM), como convidado de honra.
