Mozambique: UNESCO adds Maputo National Park to World Heritage list
The ministers of Environment of Mozambique and Portugal signed an agreement on Monday morning to strengthen cooperation in the environmental area, with climate change and rural development in the spotlight and the transfer of technologies on the agenda.
The agreement binds Portugal to disbursing 170,000 Euros for programmes in the areas covered by the agreement.
Portugal’s Environment Minister João Fernandes said that cooperation on environmental change and preservation was important, because “We are all responsible for tomorrow”.
Mozambique’s Minister of Land Environment and Rural Development Celso Correia recalled that Portugal and Mozambique were strategic partners who had long worked together in the area. Portugal had already provided 2.7 million Euros for environmental initiatives within the partnership.
