Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Ludovina Bernardo has met a Cuban mission as part of moves to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Mozambique and Cuba.
The mission was led by Ana Teresa Martínez, Director of the Mariel Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for foreign investors in Cuba, accompanied by Rámon Donato, SEZ Director of Control and Inspection, by the Ambassador of Cuba in Mozambique, Luiz Lopez Tormo, and the Ambassador of Mozambique to Cuba, Eliseu Machava.
The assembled dignitaries shared their experience in the areas of economic investment and the Cuban governance model which they believe to be ideal for boosting various sectors of government intervention.
The model of government organisation by specialisation, according to the deputy minister, allows for integrated planning and focus on specific sectors. A concrete example is the decentralisation of responsibilities, where in the case of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce it would be redistributed into several ministries, in the context of Cuban governance, such as the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Internal Trade, Ministry of Industry and Food Safety, among others.
