The foreign ministers of Mozambique and Angola are meeting in Maputo today to discuss cooperation between the two countries, the Mozambican government has announced.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique, José Pacheco, and the Angolan foreign minister, Manuel Domingos Augusto, will also analyse relations within the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and the Community for the Development of Southern Africa (SADC), to which both countries belong.
The meeting, scheduled for 3:00 p.m., takes place within the framework of a visit to Mozambique by the Angolan government at the invitation of the Mozambican state, which runs until Sunday.
Mozambique intends to develop deeper economic cooperation with Angola and increase trade, with cooperation in energy and mining one of the priorities, Mozambique’s new ambassador to Luanda, Helena Taipo, said two weeks ago soon after submitting her credentials there.
