Mozambique: President Chapo begins working visit to Maputo city

Mozambique is one of the countries selected by election yesterday to assume the vice-presidency of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), along with 20 other countries.
The 76th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations also chose Abdula Shadid, foreign affairs minister of the Maldives Islands, as president of the organ.
Shadid won by a majority of 143 votes (out of 191) over his competitor, former Afghan foreign minister Zalmuai Rassul.
Quoted on the UN website, the president-elect highlighted the need to guarantee coronavirus vaccination for all the world’s citizens, as the only way to eradicate the disease.
In turn, the secretary general of the United Nations, António Guterres, recalled that the UN General Assembly was the foundation of all the organization’s work, and essential for the efficacy of the United Nations.
