The Mozambican parliament should pass, by 21 December this year, the proposal for a specific amendment to the election law, that was approved by the Council of Ministers last week.
The Government should submit the proposal, between this week and the next, in order for it to be put urgently on the agenda. If it is not approved now, the next sitting of Parliament will only be in February, which could have serious implications for the organization of the elections, particularly because in this period the pilot voter registration should be held.
It is thought that, in the same sitting, the law will be passed approving the 12 new municipalities (https://bit.ly/CIP-El-14).
CNE delays press conference
The press conference, intended to announce the decisions of last week’s plenary session, initially scheduled for Monday, 4 December, has been delayed sine die. The CNE claims “we noted some setbacks”.
