Águas da Região Metropolitana de Maputo (AdRMM) plans to install 100,000 prepaid meters next year, in order to achieve greater efficiency in controlling consumption by customers.
The project has just entered the second phase of execution, and expects to replace 10,000 old water meters in the cities of Maputo, Matola and the town of Boane later this year.
According to AdRMM commercial director, Cremildo Fernando, the use of pre-paid meters offers numerous advantages, especially that of giving customers better control over their consumption.
“This investment responds to the concerns of our customers, who can now better determine their consumption since, in practical terms, invoicing is the responsibility of the consumer,” he observed.
Fernando cites other advantages of the new water meters, such as the reduction of queues at payment points.
