Mozambique: A woman was found dead on Ibo Island, with signs of rape – Carta

A woman of unknown age has been found dead close to an Armed Forces for the Defence of Mozambique (FADM) barracks in Ilha do Ibo, Cabo Delgado province.
Carta sources say the body bore signs of rape, although the cause of her death and injuries is as yet unknown.
The case came to light in the first fortnight of May this year.
Sources say that the victim was from Ingonane, in the administrative post of Mucojo, Macomia district, and had fled to Ibo Island from terrorist attacks. She leaves behind one child.
